Ram Navami celebrations in Ayodhya: Ram Lalla's forehead illuminates with Surya tilak

NEW DELHI: The Ram temple in Ayodhya witnessed a remarkable event as a beam of sunlight, known as 'Surya Tilak,' was directed onto the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol during the celebration of Ram Navami on Wednesday. This unique occurrence took place at noon using a system involving mirrors and lenses installed in the temple. A team of scientists, commissioned by the temple trust, utilised their expertise to precisely illuminate the forehead of Ram Lalla with a ray of sunlight. Through the positioning of mirrors and lenses, the sunlight was focused on the diety's forehead, creating a stunning visual effect. The entire process lasted for about 3 minutes, starting precisely at 12 noon. During this auspicious moment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the historical significance of the event in his election rally at Nalbari, Assam. The Prime Minister, with a chant of 'Jai Siyawar Ram,' highlighted the long-awaited occasion of Lord Ram being enshrined in his grand temple after 500 years. After the event, Modi took to twitter and expressed his happiness. Like crores of Indians, this is a very emotional moment for me, he said.

The atmosphere in Ayodhya was filled with devotion as devotees joyfully chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' and celebrated outside the Ram Janambhoomi Mandir. This year's Ram Navami holds special significance as it marks the first celebration after the Pran Pratishtha of the Lord Ram idol by PM Modi on January 22 in Ayodhya. The festivities at Ram Janambhoomi Mandir included offerings of 56 types of bhog, prasad, and panjiri. Acharya Satyendra Das, the Chief Priest of Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, shared that the preparations. "He is dressed in yellow clothes, and after this he is bathed with Panchamrit. Four-five types of panjiris are made and along with that, 56 types of offerings are made to the Lord," he said. Devotees flocked to the temple in large numbers, showcasing their faith and participating in the vibrant celebrations. Before entering the temple, many devotees took a dip in the sacred waters of the Saryu River. The darshan at the temple commenced at 3:30 am, and the celebration was broadcasted on approximately 100 LED screens across the city, along with the trust's social media platforms, allowing people to witness the festivities from afar.
