Rahul Gandhi files nomination from Kerala seat, says ‘Wayanad is home'

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday filed his nomination papers from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. Rahul Gandhi, who held a roadshow in Kerala today along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, said, "Wayanad is my home, and the people of Wayanad are my family." "From them (people of Wayanad), I have learned a great deal over the last five years and received an abundance of love and affection. It is with great pride and humility that I file my nomination for Lok Sabha 2024 once again from this beautiful land," Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

Accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi and other senior party leaders, including AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, Rahul submitted his nomination papers to the Wayanad district collector, who also serves as the returning officer. After completing the submission process, he solemnly read out the oath to uphold the Constitution1. Earlier in the day, Rahul arrived in Wayanad by helicopter and held a roadshow from Kalpetta to Civil Station. During the roadshow, he addressed the public, emphasizing his solidarity with the people of Wayanad on various issues, including human-animal conflicts that have affected lives in the high range district of Kerala. In the upcoming elections, Rahul will be contesting against BJP state president K Surendran and CPI leader Annie Raja in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. He secured victory from the same seat in 2019 with a substantial margin of over four lakh votes13. The voting in Kerala for the Lok Sabha polls is scheduled to commence on April 26
