More Than 5 Crore! Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Set To Earn HUGE Salary As BCCI Announces Yearly Contracts
The duo will draw Rs 7 crore each per year as salary. This does not include the match fee that a player receives. An Indian player earns Rs 15 lakh for a Test match, 6 lakh per ODI and 3 lakh for a T20I. Apart from Virat and Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are also in the Grade A+ category. They too will draw a salary of Rs 7 crore. The top category includes players who are regulars in all three formats. Virat and Rohit recently made their T20I returns. Jay Shah has already announced that Rohit will lead Team India in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Bumrah is India's prime pacer in all formats and his workload is always managed. So he is allowed to skip few bilateral series every year. Jadeja is India's first-choice all-rounder in all formats. He was rested for the home T20I series against Afghanistan.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retained their spots in the Grade A+ category in the central contract list released by the BCCI. Both star players were in the top bracket last year as well and them being at the top doesn't come as a surprise. Since they are in the top bracket, Virat and Rohit also have high salaries.
Those in Grade A earn a salary of Rs 5 crore per annum while the Grade B players earn Rs 3 crore. Those in Grade C have a salary of Rs 1 crore. This year, the BCCI has given Grade A contracts to six players. The list also includes R Ashwin and Hardik Pandya. While Ashwin is only considered for Tests, Hardik only plays white-ball cricket. The BCCI has given Grade B contracts to five players. Rishabh Pant, who was in Grade A last year, is in Grade B now. A total of 15 players have been given Grade C contracts. Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel will join Grade C if they play the Dharamsala Test match against England.
